Spread some Christmas cheer

Why not spread some Christmas cheer this year? I think we could all do with some right now. And maybe some more than others.

As if we haven’t all had enough of Covid already, here comes another variant with all the accompanying doom and gloom stories in the media.

I’m trying to ignore as much of it as possible and stay as positive as I can. That means doing the things that make me feel good and includes doing things for others.

As I get older, one of the things I enjoy most about Christmas really is giving. And believe me, if you had told me that back in the day my response would have been ‘Yeah, right!’

But here I am, in that place where I just have an overwhelming urge to give. And in particular to give back. To those that do so much to support us. Not just at Christmas. But all year round.

Some have been incredible during the pandemic. Heroes in fact. And they must surely be struggling with the demands that have been and are still being placed on them. Even more reason to spread some Christmas cheer this year. More than any other year I say.

Where to spread some Christmas cheer

It’s not for me to say who your heroes are but If you’re struggling for ideas how about:

Your recycling collection team
Your refuse collection team
Your postman
Your milkman
Your Doctor’s surgery team
The Covid Vaccine centre team
Your regular Courier delivery drivers, and
Someone you know serving in the armed forces (using the Christmas Families Free Mail service)

It doesn’t have to be expensive. It really is the thought that counts. I’ve been very pleasantly surprised at how gratefully received even a packet of chocolate covered biscuits have been.

A little kindness goes a long way.
