Claiming the the fifth SEISS grant will be possible when the online claims service opens in late July. From mid-July, HMRC will be contacting people who may be eligible to let them know their personal claim date. This will be the earliest date they can make their claim.
Eligibility for claiming the fifth SEISS grant will be determined by a turnover test in most cases. The test will consider how much your turnover has gone down by in the 2020-21 tax year due to the pandemic. For more information on turnover, search ‘SEISS’ on GOV.UK.
If you were not eligible for the fourth grant, will not be eligible for the fifth grant either as HMRC are using the same tax returns to determine eligibility for both grants. Guidance is now available on GOV.UK, search ‘Self-Employment Income Support Scheme’ for more information.
How you can get ready for Claiming the the fifth SEISS grant:
- If you are eligible for the fifth SEISS grant and intend to claim, you may need to calculate your 2020-21 turnover figure. HMRC will contact you from mid-July to let you know if you need to do this.
- You do not need to submit your 2020-21 Self Assessment tax return at this time, even though HMRC are asking for your 2020-21 turnover. The deadline for the 2020-21 Self Assessment tax return is the 31st of January 2022.
- I can support you to get ready to claim but, as with previous SEISS grants, I cannot claim on your behalf
